After graduating high school, I went into The United States Army where I served 10 years. I had the opportunity to travel the world and went on multiple deployments to Iraq and Bosnia. In 2006, I got out of the Army and married my high school sweetheart, continued to build our family, and started my career in firefighting.
I have now been a firefighter for 14 years. I have been at the Williston Fire Department for 5 years. In those years I have worked to become the Training Captain at Williston Fire Department and a TEMS Medic on the Williams County SWAT Team.
During my 5 years in Williston, ND, I have become a foster parent, a coach for young athletes, a personal trainer, and the president of the Military Affairs Committee. I am also on the peer support team supporting the Williston Fire Department and the Williston Police Department. I teach for the state of North Dakota and I hold training officer credentials through the International Society of Fire Service Instructors. To say that teaching is my passion, is an understatement.
I believe now more than ever we must develop training to instill principle-based tactical decision-making for not only police officers, but all of us in emergency response. I have a passion for teaching responders how to really connect with those in their community and remembering we are there for them. I truly believe in treating all individuals as I would want my family and I to be treated. First and foremost, I believe in and all I do is based around Character, and Integrity. I believe in the Mission here at Onyx and am proud to be a part of the team.
